By the Khokimiyat of Tashkent city:

• was made the Decision on riverside strips of irrigation canals;
• together with agencies on protection of Environment was worked out the project
  and the works on rearrangement water protection zone of Salar and other water flows of the city have begun;
• step-by-step, the special means on buildings destruction in water protection zone are placed at a disposal of agencies on protection of Environment;
• was made the Decision on continuons development of net for ground waters observation in the city. The 15 new holes were drilled, the old ones were restored.

The City committee on protection of Environment has set the break even norms of pollutants, that can be escaped with drainage waters. In 1992 the special payment was introduced for overnormal emissions of pollutants, and in 1999 - for total emissions of pollutants. That is appeared as good method of polluting problem sallution.
During last several years on the enterprises were built more than 40 systems of cycling water-supply and more than 20 clearing plants on Salar aeration station.
In 2000 in Tashkent only 19 big polluters were conducting the drainage of polluted waters into water objects. As the result of these measures a small decrease of metal contents in water was registered around the city. The concentration of chrome and oil products has decreased.
