Biodiversity

   What is causing the problems

In historical plan occured and continue to occure changings in fauna of the city. During the first half of past century from Tashkent disappeared whight stork, black kite, fly-catcher, southern nightingale, mountain finch. Became scantly or disappeared at allig predator birds of passage, bustards and others.
During last 50 years in the city penetrated and propagated new species for the fauna of Uzbekistan: Indian starling and turtle-dove, were formed new city populations of black thrush, magpie, oriole, wild doves.
Up to the end of the 60th's, because of the death of the most part of old trees from pests (elms, platans, poplars) and reconstruction of the city after earthquake in 1966, the birds disappeared almost completely, especially those, which nested in hollows: Dendrocopos leucopterus, Sturnus vulgaris, Otus scops,  Parus bokharensis.
During last decades, because of uncareful acclimatization the new types of fish penetrated into Chirchik and reservoirs of Tashkent, such as Opsariichthys uncirostris, Pseudorasbora parva, Gambusia affinis and other imported fish, which became predators or competitors for domestic fish.
