  Mammals

The modern fauna of mammals in Tashkent includes 13 species of animals, which are considered as the orders of insectivorouses, cheiroptera, rodents, and carnivore.  Hemiechinus auritus can be met everywhere in the city, but the quantity of habitants is small and the hedgehog is active only by nights. Another group of night habitants is bats. These exotic animals are represented by six species. Among them there are Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Myotis emarginatus, Eptesicus serotinus . They prefer to live in garrets, high buildings, under the archs of towers; Nyctalus noctula, Myotis emarginatus, they prefer to live in old trees. These animals are all mediasized and small in quantity. Contrary, the small bat and Pipistrellus pipistrelluscan be met in the twilight almost everywhere. Among the rodents the widely spread representatives are Rattus norvegicus, Mus musculus, which create problems like everywhere. Sometimes, on out-skirts of the city it is possible to meet Vulpes vulpes, which easily adjusts to people, and Mustela nivalis - small representative of martens family. On the out shirts, through big canals the musk-Rat  Ondatra zibetica can sometimes penetrate into the city.
