Information about our city

Tashkent  is the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the biggest city in Central Asia.The population is 2137,9  thousands people. The city is situated on the Eastern part of Central Asia, on the broad pre-mountainous plain of right Chirchic riverside. Its altitude is 440-480 metres above the sea. The Eastern part of the city is slightly hilly, the Western is plan. The surface is broken up by river valleys and ancient canals as well, as it is devided into parts by dells, which contain broad and flat water-sheds. The climate is sharply-continental and dry: the summer is hot, and the winter is relatively cold. There are many undertakings of machine-building, chemistry, building materials in the city. During last years the flow of autotransport in Tashkent has grown up to a marked degree, the new main roads have appeared, and the building industry is developing rapidly. There are many new multi-storeyed buildings, new squares in Tashkent, and the character of building of new household blocks is changing. The old borders of the city merged with new suburbs.
Administratively Tashkent is devided into 11 districts. Each district of the city is governed by district Khokimiyat. Commonly, the city is governed by the city Khokimiyat.
